Title Moods/Styles: Lettuce Prey

500 Ticks of Meditating Circumstance (3:33)

Reflective and Meditative.  Shapes I can play on a guitar, if the tempo is really slow.  The title reflects that there are actually 500 notes played by the guitar (some are repeated).  It was a Finale® count when I scored it in 2004—not sure if it held up, but I'm sticking with it.

(First motive written [seed]: Chord progression)

Wood Sprites of the Short Forest (9:28)

You're going to need more than a 45 second attention-span.  It's cinematic, with a retro-synthy-gamer-funk vibe.  A little bit of everything: Ostinatos; atmosphere; poly-rhythm; Cicadas (thanks Glenn). Fun drums to play. The title is a nod to both Peter Schickele and Frank Zappa. Both ridiculous. Both brilliant.

Do Fleas Really Come from Fleece? (2:06)

No, they don't. Fleas come from rabbits with big, nasty teeth.  The tune's build feels anthemic, and it is short-lived. I fell into a Floyd hole in '04. So—while Ray referenced the emergency spreadsheet and filled the tub with ice—I conjured up this basic chord progression.  "500 Ticks..." is a variation, but literally the exact same key and progression.  This was the original version.  I have another variation of it in 6:8 which I incorporated into a concert band piece in 2018 called "Uncontaminated by Logic."  Title is a nod to the Peter Gabriel lyric, "The fleas cling to the golden fleece" from his days with Genesis.

    (Seed: Chord progression)

Erit Satis (3:23)

This will be enough.  Also reflective and meditative, but French(?)  Title was explained in the "About" section.

(Seed: Bm11 chord in various inversions)
